What is a special enrollment period? | Washington Healthplanfinder

Open enrollment is over, but certain life changes may qualify you for special enrollment.

What is a special enrollment period?

A special enrollment period is a time outside the open enrollment period when you can shop for a new plan. If you have a life change or special circumstance, you may qualify for a special enrollment period. For events that don’t qualify for special enrollment, you’ll need to wait for the next open enrollment period to sign up for coverage through Washington Healthplanfinder. You can sign up for Washington Apple Health (Medicaid) or Washington Healthplanfinder Business year-round. You can also enroll if you are an American Indian/Alaska Native at any time.
