How Do I Cancel My Coverage?

Before canceling
If you have trouble paying your monthly insurance costs due to COVID-19, we recommend that you update your income in your application. Your change in income may qualify you for free or low-cost Apple health or financial help paying for coverage.  

Contact your insurance company directly to discuss payment options. Insurance companies in Washington with customers who applied through Washington Healthplanfinder are implementing a 60-90 day grace period for people affected by COVID-19. Some terms and conditions may apply depending on the insurance company. Contact your insurance company immediately to discuss your options before canceling at Washington Healthplanfinder. Cancel Apple Health (Medicaid) coverage

Online:
Go to Washington Healthplanfinder:

  • Sign in and select "Report a Change" in Quick Links.
  • You will be directed to the "Report a change" screen.
  • Answer "yes" to the question "I need to add or remove someone from my household."
  • Once you land on the household members screen, select "Edit" on the household member you want to cancel coverage for.
  • Answer "no" to the question "Does this person want to apply for coverage or continue existing coverage through Washington Healthplanfinder?" and save your selection. 
  • Continue through the application and E-sign to submit the changes. 

Once you remove someone from your home and sign electronically, you can still view the plan as enrolled in the dashboard. It may take up to 24 hours for your canceled plan to be reflected in the online application.

Cancel other dental and health coverage for one household member

Cancel other dental and health coverage for all household members 

  • Online: Go to Washington Healthplanfinder: Log in and select "Cancel" on your dashboard below the plan for which you want to cancel coverage.
  • You will be directed to the "Cancellation Confirmation Page" to confirm your cancellation.

You should receive a coverage cancellation confirmation email after canceling your entire home coverage.

Hint:

  • If you cancel your coverage before or on the 15th of the month, your coverage will end on the last day of that month.
  • If you cancel your coverage after the 15th of the month, your coverage will end on the last day of the following month.
  • In order to cancel and avoid paying for your current coverage, you must cancel before the first of the coming month.
